The 56th Annual Canoe the Nonquon returns to Port Perry on Saturday, June 6, 2026. This long-running community tradition is both a fun paddling challenge and the largest annual fundraiser for the Scugog Shores Museum Village. The event welcomes all ages and skill levels, from recreational paddlers to experienced racers.

Event Details

  • Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
  • Race Start Window: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Registration Fee: $65 per vessel (canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard)
  • Race Distance: Approximately 20 km total
    • 12 km on the winding Nonquon River
    • 8 km across Lake Scugog to the finish line

Registration Information

Participants can:

  • Pre-register online beginning Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 a.m.
  • Or register in person at the Latcham Centre:
    • Friday, June 5: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
    • Saturday, June 6: 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

All racers must check in at the Latcham Centre to receive their official race number before heading to the start line. No participant may start the race without it.

Start & Finish Locations

Start Line:
Bridge on Scugog Line 12 between Old Simcoe Road and Simcoe Road North near Seagrave, about 10 minutes north of Port Perry.

Finish Locations:

  • River-only racers finish at Robinglade Park
  • Full-course racers finish at the public pier beside the Latcham Centre

Helpful Information

  • Shuttle vans are available to return participants to their vehicles after the race.
  • Paddlers are encouraged to collect sponsorship pledges to support the museum and archives.
  • Safety equipment including approved PFDs, whistles, rope, and bailers are required.
  • Volunteers and sponsors are always welcome to help support this historic community event.
